Clinical Colleagues, Inc. (CCI) has announced the appointment of Charles (Chuck) Trentham, M.D., as its Chief Medical Officer.
In his new role, Dr. Trentham focuses on continued relationship development with current and prospective clients, and assists with new contract start-ups, providing transitional leadership at hospitals as they are recruiting and placing new physician leaders. Additionally, Dr. Trentham concentrates on maintaining anesthesia standards of care, while allowing CCI to maximize results for hospitals that are striving to improve the operational and financial performance of their anesthesia departments. Prior to his promotion, Dr. Trentham served as a Regional Medical Officer for CCI. He has also served as a hospital Board member, Chief of Staff, Chief of Anesthesia and as a Staff Anesthesiologist for health care systems in North Carolina, Utah and Montana, throughout his career.
“As Chief Medical Officer for CCI, I have a tremendous opportunity to support both the clinical and operational sides of the business,” said Dr. Trentham. “Our clients come to us looking for solutions. We find that some require strong physician leadership or need help with putting an improved staffing model in place. Others need guidance on how to reduce costs or operate more efficiently from a financial standpoint. We are able to assess each hospital’s existing model and then offer solutions that will have a positive impact, in multiple areas. It’s very rewarding to go through this process with a client and help them turn it around.”
Dr. Trentham is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, and went on to complete residency programs at the University of Florida in Anesthesiology and the University of Colorado in Pediatrics, as well as a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Denver. He also served as a physician in the United States Army Reserve for ten years. Dr. Trentham returned to the University of Tennessee for completion of a Master of Business Administration degree, in 2008.
